I love singing to my boys! I'm not the best singer, but I can keep a tune. It's therapeutic for me and the boys have grown to love having their mom sing to them. It is a bond between us. And already, I have seen that love for music begin to grow in Evan. So when I read this post from Lauralee, I was encouraged! She links up to a very interesting article that I would encourage you all to read, from the Chicago Children's Museum! (Yes, I am a teacher, but I do love learning from other teacher's especially when it's in a background of the arts, since you know, the arts' aren't my thing - HA!) I think my love of music and singing came from my mom, who always was singing around the house and always sang to me. We would have the radio on periodically but mostly I remember just my mom's voice as she cleaned or got dressed in the mornings, or while comforting me when I was scared at night. So even from the beginning of Evan's conception, I sang to him. I sing when we get dressed in the mornings, I sing before putting the boys down, I sing when we wash our hands, I sing when they need comforted, I sing in the truck (and in the shower-ha). Singing is just a part of our lives.
Some of my bloggy friends, that I stalk, link up to Oh Amandas Top Ten Tuesday on Tuesdays. Which I always love reading but never can come up with a list of 10 of anything. Until after reading Lauralee's post. I started thinking about what songs that I consistently sing to the boys. I starting writing them down and noticed that there were 10 of them. And believe it or not, these are my go-to songs that just come naturally out of my mouth when I sing. So now I have an excuse to link up to Oh Amandas Top Ten Tuesday.
So here they are:
Now it's your turn, what are the go-to songs that you sing to your kids? You don't necessarily have to list 10 but maybe leave a comment giving us 1 or 2. Not singing to your kids?...shame on you :-) go check out the reasons that Lauralee gives on why you should.
