This is the ultimate dilemma as a parent. Do you encourage the act of "cleaning" with your preschooler knowing that you might be creating more of a mess, or wasting valuable time because we know those little independent cuties are not the quickest? Or do you try to convince him that although you "want the help", he should be doing something else so that you can get your stuff done quickly without hurting his feelings.
Well after several months of letting Evan vacuum for me while I stood and hovered, then having to go back and redo what he did, it donned on me. I could get a swiffer and let him "mop" while I did the real vacuuming and mopping.
The best part, Evan fell for it!! Woot! So lately, every evening he asks to mop for me. So of course I oblige! Because the floor can always use some extra cleaning! And he feels like he is contributing to the household. He is truly "helping Mommy do chores"!
So what methods do you employ to get some work done around the house?
