Unfortunately, since changing my diet drastically, our food budget has skyrocketed. At this point, I buy our normal stuff for the guys, then buy myself special snacks and such. The first few weeks, I sampled and bought several brands and the brands that I liked, I have scoured the internetz to find coupons and special offers, to try to balance our budget a little more. I was writing this post and realized I had ten companies that I have found so far that have opportunities to get coupons and special discounts. So I figured I would link this post up to Oh Amanda's Top Ten Tuesday. So here we go: Garden of Eatin' - I tried the Popped Blue chips because I liked that there were whole grain ingredients. Super yummy with homemade guacamole!
R.W. Knudsen Family - Organic Juice for the kiddos is always something I look for at a comparable price. They have come out with some spritzers that I would love to try, since I am not supposed to be drinking anything right now except for water. I kinda miss my occasional soda, you know what I mean?
Enjoy Life Products - The snickerdoodles and chocolate chips cookies are surprisingly delicious! The boys love them too, but I have only allowed them to try one each - yeah I am that stingy ;-)! I tell them, the cookies are "mommy's special snacks that little boys don't need." Ha and they believe me. What I should tell them that they are too expensive to share with hungry little boys that would eat the whole box!!
Organic Valley - I can't have any dairy, but I do buy the boys organic milk! Coupons are always nice to have in case it goes on sale at one of our local health food stores!
Greens Plus - The 22 Days Daily Mocha Mantra Protein Bars are the BEST protein bars I have ever tasted!! The Mocha Montra tastes just like a brownie. I usually half the bar and have one half for a snack each day! But let me tell you that I could eat several of these a day, they are that good!! (The pumpkin seed one I have tried also; it was okay. Tolerable if I needed something to eat)
Nature's Path - Their Crunchy Vanilla Sunrise is to die for!! Really, it probably is one of the best cereals I have ever tasted!! I haven't found any coupons yet, but you can join the Cereal Bowl for a chance to win a gift card.
Udi's Gluten Free - I have tried their Whole Grain Bread and it is surprisingly good! I have made peanut butter sandwiches with it and have also toasted it with "butter" (you know the kind with no dairy or soy in it - ha!). They also have a great Au Naturel Granola. I have it with almond milk. If you are a cereal eater like I am, it is a must have in the pantry!
Good Health Natural Products - I love their potato chips, specifically the Cracked Pepper and Sea Salt Olive Oil Potato Chips! Yum!
Ian's Natural Foods - I haven't actually tried anything from them yet. But I was able to get a coupon in the mail that I can't wait to try. But I did like their site a lot. They have a search feature that you can specifically check which allergens you don't want and then they give you options. I think, with my coupon, I will be trying the French Toast Sticks since I really miss Saturday morning breakfasts with the family, where we usually make pancakes, waffles or french toast.
And of course, what list of mine that has to do with healthy food, wouldn't have Trader Joe's on it.?No, they don't accept coupons, but they are usually cheaper than any other health food store. They do have many gluten/milk/soy free snacks!
Is there a favorite snack that you eat that is wheat/soy/milk free? I would love to hear other suggestions...
