It was a beautiful, sunny, warm morning today! It began with our normal YMCA activities then we decided to head off to the park for a picnic. We headed to a local park that has a walking/riding path around it so that Evan could practice his biking skills and Carter could play with his scooter, along with playing on the playground. I decided that I could burn a few extra calories by walking around the playground while the kids played - although I had already ran 3 miles and did some elliptical at the Y. But I do have only 4 weeks until the pools open and 7 more pounds to go to hit my goal.
There was a senior league playing softball on both fields and the old men had a great time chit chatting with me and laughing at the boys. I mean who doesn't love watching two crazy boys running their mom around in circles!
One guy loved the fact that I "lost" the boys while running around the track and I "couldn't keep up". While another older gentleman asked me how many times I was actually going to walk around the loop. I informed him that I would go as long as the boys were playing. He informed me I could be walking all afternoon - since he "knew a thing to two about boys". It was fun "shootin' the breeze" with them.
Evan moped around the playground for the first 10 minutes because there were no kids his age playing. At one point he "tagged" a toddler to be it and took off running. The toddler stood there and started crying because he didn't know why this big kid tapped him on his head. Fortunately a few kids showed up that were his age and all was well in the world again.
Carter on the other hand, found the cutest little girl with long blond hair to woo. And he did woo her as only Carter can do. They frolicked and played the whole time we were there.
What a fun afternoon. I love a random, nice, relaxing outing with the boys. And thankful that the rain held off until this evening. We definitely needed the great outdoors!
