Date nights with my boys that is... Last year, Jeremy and I started having date nights with the boys every other week. I would take Evan out and Jeremy would take Carter out, then the next week vice versa. But after about month or so, individual date nights fizzled out due to busy schedules and such.
But last week, after several hard weeks with Evan. I decided him and I needed to have a date. Just the two of us. So Jeremy and I thought we would reinstitute date nights with the boys.
I have been very impatient and irritable toward Evan recently. I admit it! And on top of that, Carter is still in the "cute" toddler stage, so he gets so much of our attention and everyone else's too. So Evan has been trying (a little too hard) to get just as much attention. And let's just say, it isn't working very well - you know a toddler verses a loud, in your face, over-trying preschooler.
So, I knew that Evan needed some one-on-one time with me, to be himself enjoying something he enjoys doing. I asked him if he wanted to have a date night. He enthusiastically said yes.
Any ideas what he wanted to do??
It was a fun filled night of putt-putt and ice cream. And you know how I loooovvvvveeee putt-putt. But it wasn't about me, it was about Evan.
He did have a couple rules that he informed me of when pulling into the parking lot:
#1 - No phones!
#2 - No cameras!
We enjoyed a beautiful evening of putt-putt! He won, really!
But most importantly: We laughed. We talked. We enjoyed each other's company!
