You know, many kids save money for an item that they are dying to have. You probably remember something that you saved up for as a child. I saved diligently for a pogo stick (which I still have by the way ;-)). Like most kids, Evan saves EVERY coin he can get his little grubby preschool fingers on. He did splurge a couple of weeks ago and bought himself a little Sonic Race Car figurine.
A couple of nights ago, he randomly asked how much money was in his piggy bank. I told him I wasn't for sure and asked him why.
He told me he wanted that van.
"What van?" At this point I was thinking of a commercial that he saw on T.V. while we were watching Toy Story 2 on Disney. IT WAS A STUPID long music video commercial for something. I tried to block it out. It had a rock band playing a song and at the end of it, the van takes off and flies through space. So my mind went to that commercial because it was the only van I could think of that a preschooler would want to buy. And we had watched Toy Story 2 hours before.
I asked him if that was what he was talking about?
"No mom!! I want to buy you that van. You know, the light one that has the DVD player and I can wear the headphones and play Mario. You know, the one that the doors open by themselves and there is a lot of room for Carter and me. You know what van I mean?"
I KID YOU NOT!! Those were his exact words!
AWWW start dream sequence - you know the squiggly lines and music and me looking off longingly as I dream about the Week of Swagger Heaven in the Toyota Sienna.
Yep, Evan I know what van you are talking about.
"Mom, I think I saved up enough money. I think I saved up 40-10 money (that's Evan speak for A LOT of money) and I would like to buy if for you. Can we go count my money to see if I have enough?"
He was only about $38,997 short! Darn!
If only it was that simple kid - KEEP SAVING UP!!
