If you are visiting from Kelly's Korner - Welcome, hang out and stay awhile :-) I would say the majority of people, who are from out of town, when they think about where we live, they think of this:
Many just assume, that since we live in South West Ohio, we MUST live on a farm. Granted, you do see a lot of farm land in this neck of the woods, but surprisingly there are cities in Ohio too, you know! And no, we DON'T live on a farm.
But as children we learn phrases such as, "Knee high by July" and local high schools do have "drive your tractor to school" days.
A surprise came from finding pictures for this post. I have a new appreciation for where we live. Yes, you will hear me complaining about the joys of being in Ohio, when allergy season is ravaging my body, or when the weather can't decide if it wants to be cold, hot or in between. But over all, this isn't that bad of a place to raise kids.
And of course most of the pics of our local scenery, includes some cute boys! You know the reason while I visit many of these more than the average Daytonian -ha! Enjoy!
We have great parks to take our kids. Our surrounding cities and towns have really made it a priority to develop up-to-date playgrounds where families can enjoy the outdoors, have picnics, feel safe and get some great exercise in. We also have some amazing nature preserves and parks, due to our location in the Ohio Valley - most within a 15 minute drive!
We have the National Museum of the United States Air Force and the Dayton Air Show!
We have the Dayton Dragons and the Schuster Performing Arts Center
Because we do live in farm country, we do love celebrating the harvest season by visiting all the local farmer's markets, farms and festivals.
Where we live, we do have 4 seasons!
Their are pockets of beautiful, unique, artsy areas downtown.
There you have it. Not everything, but a lot of our local hang outs. Well local hang outs when you have 2 little ones to run after :-)!
