When Amy invited us to Blogger Day at the Reds, Jeremy and I thought this would be a great opportunity to take Evan to his first MLB baseball game. It would be great because we could hang out with some local bloggy friends and get to enjoy Evan witnessing his first game. He was totally pumped and practiced "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" all week long "Sing it again, Mom!"
Even with the weather forecast calling for rain all day, we braved it. We first headed to a pre-game party sponsored by Chevy. We had a fun time standing under the tent :-) while it rained, but also enjoyed the goodies and drinks that were provided by Chevy. The clouds broke for a little while and Evan got to check out the 2009 Equinox’s (sorry Leslie, I warned you that all your buttons, mirrors and controls would be screwed up, hopefully they weren't too bad ;-) ).
There are many firsts that we parents love to experience with our kids. Taking Evan to his first baseball game, is one of them. Because he LOVES baseball so much and truly enjoyed watching the game and learning from Jeremy along the way (as much as a 2 year old can handle). Every new experience, he would squeal and repeat what just happened.
"Dad, we get to ride a bus to the game!"
"Mom, I get to give the guy my ticket!"
"Mom, look at my new hat!" (it was free visor day - woot - nothing like a free hat for the kid)
"Dad, there are baseballs on the walls!"
"Mom, sing the song again!"
"Dad, look! It's Mr. Redlegs!"
It is one of the true blessings in life to watch your child experience the joy in an "American Past-time" for the very first time! I loved every second of it!
