This is a cake post :-). If you are new to my site, Welcome!! Come check out my Cake Endeavors!
As you recall from last week's post on the stressful opportunity to make Miss Sophie's Birthday cake, I did a practice run with fondant, since I have never been successful with it yet. But I can officially say, that I don't mind working with fondant. It is still a challenge for me, but now I have two cakes under my belt. But enough talking, I know you all want to see the finished product!
But, another small piece of info before I reveal the final product, my wonderful sister-in-law, Beth, was brought on board to work on the characters. She is an amazing and talented artist so I asked her if she wanted to do a "small" project for me. She has never done fondant before, but as you can see she worked magic! We had a ton of fun working together and I wish she lived closer so that we can do this again (she was staying here while her husband Nate was deployed in Iraq, but he will be home in 2 weeks so she will be leaving us and heading home :-()
So here is the final product: Miss Sophie's Word World Cake
And after working on this cake for some time and the fact that it was way past our bedtimes, Beth and I thought it would be fun to make Pig a little bit more discreet ( but don't fret, it wasn't permanent)...
