Today, I had a few moments of quiet time with Carter while Evan was still sleeping. We played quietly in his room. He pull out some vehicles from a toy box and began to line them up.
He started with his tractor! Then following the tractor was his semi truck then his fire truck. He was being very meticulous during the whole process and not saying a word.
Then one by one he would move them to another part of the play area and again line then back up, not necessarily in the same order.
What's the big deal, you ask? Although the activity in itself isn't mind boggling, what is?? Well let me tell you.
IT IS THE VERY FIRST THING BOTH BOYS HAVE IN COMMON!! I am pulling at strings here, I admit :-)! Yes, I needed to put that in all caps, because my 2 boys have NOTHING in common. They don't look anything alike, they don't act anything like, they don't have any of the same interests (during the same ages), they don't play the same way, they don't like the same toys, NOTHING. Until now. Although I have to admit, Evan was a little bit more OCD about his vehicles where he would line all of them up, EVERY morning. For about a month!! We would put them away in his stool every evening, and the very first thing he would do in the morning would be to run out and get his vehicles and line them up. So today, I got to walk down memory lane a little bit.
