Yes, I am fully aware that is has been over 2.5 months since my last post! So I will update you on what has been keeping me away from writing anything.
I started back to school, in an attempt to get my teaching license renewed because if you really know me, you won't be too surprised that I let it expire in the first place. Not that I am thinking I WILL go back to work when both boys are in school full time, but it doesn't hurt to
spend a boatload of money on classes so the state thinks I am educated enough to teach have it in case something comes up that is too irresistible! I took an Algebra class - which honestly I enjoyed - at least the math part of it. And it reminded me that I haven't lost every ounce of brain cells after having children, as most of the time I feel.
I started subbing in the district that we live in. It has been a challenge shuffling the children here and there but overall I think it has been worth the little bit of extra money I have earned! Will I do it next year? Maybe depending on how things are panning out with our finances. We took a Dave Ramsy course in the fall, and Jeremy and I would love to be debt free and actually working towards bigger and better goals!
The boys both were in Winter sports. Carter was in indoor soccer and Evan was in basketball. They of course practiced and had games on different days. Carter really enjoyed running around the gym during the games, while actually kicking the ball didn't really come to mind. But at least he didn't cry hysterically during every game like he did the previous sports season. Jeremy was one of Evan's basketball coaches which was fun for Evan, but maybe not so much for Jeremy. He realized that maybe 5 and 6 year olds weren't his prime audience! HA! But he will most likely do it again, and once the boys get a little older, he will probably enjoy it a little more.
Jeremy and I both were doing Bible studies on different nights.
Oliver attended puppy school for 4 weeks! He did great and got some much needed socialization in, which Victor never had. He just oozes cuteness and anyone who see him has to come over and meet him. This has opened up some great discussions with random strangers. People just want to come over and talk with me when he is with me! Go figure! I absoluately love that he brings smiles to the elderly strangers we meet. I have seen so many perk right up and talk my ear off!
Carter tested unexpectedly low in some areas in his kindergarten assessment, which means in the afternoons that I am not working, I am working with him to catch him up to his peers. I try to get in at least four academic sessions in with him during the work week.
It has been a whirlwind of a few months and I have to admit, I am ready and longing for the lazy days of summer! Yes, I said it! Remind of this when it's May 23rd and I am already complaining about the boys being home all day (because E gets out on May 22! Can you believe it?)! But I am really looking forward to hanging out with friends, late nights of s'mores and drinks with faces I haven't seen much in the last few months, the pool, vacations and weekend getaways! I am ready for a break with my two boys! They are growing up way too fast and my goal this summer is to enjoy every minute I can with them! Because time is slipping away!
